| Synopsis:
Sink your teeth into meaty drama and intrigue with House, FOX's new take on mystery, where the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients. On the compelling series premiere episode, Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant diagnostician but devoid of bedside manner, and his elite team of young medical experts rush to save the life of a kindergarten teacher (guest star Robin Tunney) who started speaking gibberish and passed out in front of her class. What looks like a possible brain tumor does not respond to treatment and provides many more questions than answers for House and his team as they engage in a risky trial-and-error approach to her case. When the young teacher refuses any additional variations of treatment and her life starts slipping away, House must act against his code of conduct and make a personal visit to his patient to convince her to trust him one last time. |

 Season 3 Episode 12 worth the entire season January 3, 2009

This episode was one of the most touching things I've ever watched. I'm astounded by the acting and writing of this series. There is something special about thess actors and stories that make this series what it is. This particular episode, which focuses on Hugh Laurie and Jennifer Morrison's characters, is hands down the best acting/writing/directing I've ever seen in a TV series. This episode epitomizes what makes this series great. A careful balance of character development, wit, intellect, and humanity.
I haven't yet made it to season 4, but I've watched the first 3 seasons in about 5 days, and this episode touched me so much I had to come here to post about it. I guess I just wanted to say thank you to the people involved in this show, it's deeply thought provoking, and anyone who watches these episodes can't help but be affected by them, which is rare.
Not to cound cheesy, but it's the MASH of our time and simply watching the show has made me feel like a better person.

Wow! Kudo's to the writers cast and crew! House gets better and better with every season and every episode. Our whole family hopes it lasts as long as The Simpsons. We look forward to every new episode and own every season on DVD.
Thanks for hours of drama, suspense, laughter and tears.

It always seems to be exciting! When I think okay this is the last surprise...they cannot get me next time...and they do! Very creative writing. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I recommend this episode just like all other of House!

I never bought into the criticism that the new characters were the problem with the drifting of Season 4. The new characters really do show promise as evidenced in this 1st episode of 5. My contention all along is that there was some sloppy writing in some of the episodes of 4 and that the characters are really what the writer makes of them, and good acting.
This 1st episode is more reminiscent of the classic House. I would have liked to have seen House more involved with the medical decisions here, but it's understandable that time needed to be devoted to build the personal story involving Wilson.
It really leaves one wondering how House can hold his life together. He is the extreme case of a person, or people, each of us have known, or know. This is what partly drives the popularity of this show.
I look forward to seeing how his character unfolds, or unravels, throughout this season and hopefully many more to come.

The writers have done it again! The cast on House is now coming to life with a closer look at the new characters from season 4... and the ever so talented iconoclastic Hugh Laurie. Brilliant Genius!! If This first episode of season 5 is an Omen of what's yet to come, it's going to be a great season for us and for House!
