3 out of 5 stars Definitely Rent It!   November 10, 2008
Bare No More (Clearwater, FL, USA)

Ryan Reynolds is one of my favorite actors so it always disappoints me when one of his films doesn't thrill me. This movie lacked plot and substance. There is a man who is going through a divorce and he is telling his young daughter about three women he dated around the time he met her mother. The little girl is supposed to guess which one by the descriptions ends up being her mother. I thought all of the actresses (with the exception of the little girl) lacked personality making it only tolerable to watch. "Definitely, Maybe" was okay but not worth buying before you have seen (like I tend to do). The previews show the film.

5 out of 5 stars Not Maybe But Definitely a Good Movie   November 9, 2008

It's hard to know where to begin in reviewing this movie. I thought that the whole movie was quite enjoyable. It seemed way different than an atypical romantic comedy. The basic premise throughout most of it is that Will Hayes (played by Ryan Reynolds) tells his daughter, Maya (played by Abigail Breslin), the story about how he met her mother. He made it a little interesting for her and used age-appropriate descriptions. He told her about three different women he had known back in his younger years. He wanted her to guess which one ended up being her mother. Each of the three women (Elizabeth Banks, Isla Fisher, and Rachel Weisz respectively) did a fantastic job in their roles. This movie was so good in my opinion that I saw it twice in the span of a few days. All in all, it really is worth watching at least once if not more than that.

Surprising how they think it is acceptable for a little girl to have so much sexual knowledge and ask her dad inappropriate questions. It was a total turn off.

1 out of 5 stars A disappointment   October 13, 2008

I had high hopes for this movie because it was from the people who did "Love Actually" -- a favorite of mine. The cast seemed promising -- Abigail Breslin and Rachel Weisz -- but the plot just did not make sense and it was so boring! I thought that the premise was that Maya was raised by her dad and didn't know who her mother was. Was she dead? Out of the picture? None of the above as it turns out.
Her dad tells her the story of his three loves and how they went in and out of his life -- the trick is to guess which one of these is the story of how he and her mother met. She knows who her mom is -- she lives with her and she's just visiting dad for the weekend. How confusing is that! It felt like they changed the plot in the middle of the story. Don't bother with this little trifle. It's not worth your time.
